Franz Lefler was born in 1831 in Langenbruck, Bohemia. He died in 1898 in WeiBenbach an der Triesting (Lower Austria). 
The owner of Babes In The Woods asked Randall Quick to restore the original and he was granted permission to produce a limited number of Fine Art Giclee canvas prints captured directly from the lost original. "The Babes In The Woods Collectors Edition" are the only prints available of this painting. They are created by and certified by Randall Quick.

    The original "Babes In The Woods" painting by Franz Lefler was discovered in a large indoor flea market in 1975, in Portland Oregon. Randall Quick was asked to restore flood damage inflicted on the painting. It is believed the painting was damaged in the 1947 Vanport flood. After the painting was repaired, Randall Quick was given limited print rights by the owner.
